Contrary to what his name suggests, Buckaroo is a gentle fellow. He is content to try out a variety of perches and comfy spots throughout the day, napping and observing his surroundings. But he’d never turn down an offer of neck scritches, or the opportunity to play wand toy together with you. Once he gets comfortable with you, he loves to tell you about his day and all his observations, and is usually purring whenever you’re nearby. He just wants you to know that he’s happiest when he’s hanging out with you. He’ll be the first to join you on the couch at the end of a long day.

Because he’s so observant, Buckaroo is a smartypants who learns new skills and ideas readily, especially if snacks are involved. After seeing his foster’s resident dog using some agility equipment, he decided to try it himself, and caught on nearly right away! He loves to be involved in whatever household activities are going on.

Buckaroo can’t resist a good wand toy, but also enjoys soft bouncy balls, blanket forts, and squirrel videos. He can have endless fun hunting and pouncing on a ball hidden inside a fabric shopping bag. He’s absolutely fascinated by running water, and watching his water bowl being filled is an exciting event for him every time.

He is about 2-3 years old – a young cat, but grown out of the kitten stage. He has come a long way in his bravery since coming into foster care, but would still do best in a calm household where he can settle in at his own pace and continue to build his confidence. Even though he is timid initially, he is unfailingly gentle.

After gradual introductions, Buckaroo now considers himself to be BFFs with his foster’s resident dog, so with proper introductions would do well with a calm, cat-savvy dog who will give him space when he needs it. He’s currently fostered with his cat buddy Wrangler, and they do well together, but can also be adopted separately.
